Summer Positions

Staff orientation and camp sessions run from June 11 to August 18, 2018.
Lifeguard and High Ropes training sessions are offered June 12 to 15, 2018.

We have residential (live at camp) and day only (live at home) positions for each of the following positions. ALL staff members share counselor duties when not running their specific program activities. Here are brief descriptions of each job, and the experience and qualifications required:

General Counselor (Age 19+) Counselors work directly with their own group of 7-12 year old campers. Counselors spend summer participating in all the activities with their kids, and get to lead activities they have expertise in. Counselors have the most vital position of the summer – and are the staff member making the magic happen for the campers! Bus counselor positions also available (ride the bus to/from Philadelphia with campers as supervisors)

Village Leader (Age 21+) Coordinate all aspects of a camp “village” typically consisting of 50 campers plus 8-10 staff. Schedule and organize village activities, mentor and supervise counselors, act as village lead, support staff in their daily programs. Experience with camp programs, youth work, supervisory/leadership experience required.

Environmentalist (Age 19+) Environmental Education specialist lead small group activities such as creek crawls, nature hikes, fun “nature stuff”. They are responsible for and teach about our camp animals collection – donkeys, goats, chickens, snakes, etc. Experience with teaching, environmental education, science education or other relevant experience required.

Teen Adventure Program Leader (Age 21+) TAP staff lead our 13 and 14 year old campers through their 5 or 12 day epic adventures – hiking through beautiful Pennsylvania gorges, white water rafting, ziplining and high ropes, mountain biking, camping at our Spruce Run Outpost. Experience with youth work, outdoor recreation required.

Mountain Outpost Leader (Age 21+) Coordinate all aspects of our Spruce Run Outpost program for our 13 and 14 year old Teen Adventure Program campers and their counselors. Camp cooking, hiking through beautiful Pennsylvania gorges, white water rafting, ziplining and high ropes, mountain biking. Experience with youth work, outdoor recreation, supervisory/leadership experience and clean driver’s license required.

Bike Program Leader (Age 19+) Lead mountain biking activities round camp, teach campers bike safety, teach campers how to ride a bike – perform basic bike maintenance on fleet. Experience with basic bicycle maintenance desired

High Ropes Program Leader (Age 19+) Previous experience required Lead climbing tower and high ropes activities, teach basic belay skills, set up and take down equipment and perform all safety checks. Experience with climbing belay systems, high ropes required.

Swim Instructors/Lifeguards (Age 21+) Provide safety coverage at our two pools and coordinate swim lessons, pool games, create fun aquatic events. Previous swim teaching and or lifeguarding experience and current Lifeguard Training/CPR certification required (or be able to complete by summer)

Camper Advocate (Age 21+) Provide support to camp staff to assist campers with any behavioral or emotional concerns while at camp. Lead workshops on positive communication and esteem building activities. Previous experience in counseling, special education, behavior management or youth development required

Camp Office Assistant (Age 19+) Work in our camp office assisting with parent calls, filing and data entry.

Camp Cook (Age 19+) Prepare daily meals for 50 – 250. Previous experience and current Food Safety Handling certification required

Kitchen Counter Assistants (Age 16+) Help serve meals, prep food, clean up. Daytime, dinner and weekend flexible shifts available.

Grounds Worker (Age 18+) Assist with groundskeeping, mowing, basic cleaning.

Teacher Naturalists (Age 21+) Lead small and large group activities in environmental education, team building and outdoor recreation for school students ages 3-10th grade. Experience with teaching, environmental education, science education or other relevant experience required

Camp Cook (Age 19+) Prepare daily meals for 50 – 250. Previous experience and current Food Safety Handling certification required

Kitchen Counter Assistants (Age 16+) Help serve meals, prep food, clean up. Daytime, dinner and weekend flexible shifts available.
